About us

The M Salon is a spacious, luxurious salon in Huntington Beach, and in just two years we've grown into one of the busiest salons around. Clients come to us from all over Orange County, Los Angeles County, Inland Empire and San Diego County for services on dark hair done right: dimensional balayage, all-over color, and layered haircuts with face framing curtain bangs, all finished with our signature bouncy blowout.

Our assistants work beside our stylists every day, learn our color and cutting system, and move to their own commission chair when their work is ready, usually in 6 to 12 months. This is the role for someone who's serious about building a career in hair. You'll learn from a busy, trend-forward team, work hands-on with real clients every day, and have a clear path to your own chair.

What you'll do

  • Shampoo, treatments and blow-dry finishes for the salon team

  • Mix and apply color under a stylist's direction

  • Take care of every client from check-in to checkout

  • Keep stations stocked and the salon clean and tidy

  • Build your portfolio from day one and post your work, so we're ready to promote you to our clients when you move to a chair

  • Learn our techniques hands-on and stay curious about new trends

What you need

  • California cosmetology license and a driver's license

  • The basics from hair school: shampoo, blow-dry and basic color theory

  • At least one customer service job (café, retail or similar)

  • Enjoys helping others, wants to learn and is open to feedback

  • Wants a challenge in a fast-paced salon and is comfortable on your feet for long hours

  • Detail oriented, reliable and tidy

  • Active on social media

  • Excited to grow into a career as a stylist, not just looking for a job

Pay and schedule

Pay: starting $17 an hour, plus tips from clients.

Schedule: Full-time, 4 to 5 days a week, including at least one weekend day.
